A recent survey conducted by the Cleaning Coalition of America provides insight into North American workers’ feelings about returning to the office amid the COVID-19 pandemic. With more employees returning to their offices across North America, companies are eager for thorough cleaning in the workplace on a regular basis to stymy the potential spread of disease.
According to the survey, 89.9% of respondents believe workplace cleaning protocols are instrumental in helping them feel safe as they return to their offices. That sentiment was shared by vaccinated and unvaccinated employees alike. Meanwhile, 77.2% of respondents indicated they believe their workplaces should be cleaned at least once a day. In fact, 38.3% of respondents said they would be open to changing their job if their current workplace is not cleaned frequently.
The survey results further indicated that the majority of North American workers believe the visible presence of cleaners in the workplace can help assuage fears and lead to peace of mind amid the transition back to in-office work. One respondent, asserting that “[a]ctions speak louder than words,” said they “should be able to see the cleaning being done frequently.” Another respondent urged companies to “[h]ire the best and most qualified [cleaning] company, not the cheapest.”
